WHERE DESIGN MEETS CRAFTING

I've always loved to draw as a hobby, but took a break in 1998 to focus on family life.

In 2014 I decided to pick up my pencils again, and thought it would

be fun to turn my hobby into a new business venture!

I was born on, and have always lived on the Isle of Wight, and I'm completely self taught, having no formal art training or qualifications.

I love to draw the animals and produce of the Island, and I'm planning to add many different aspects of Island life to my range of prints and products in the future.

MEET THE TEAM

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE CREATIONS

Nicky (formerly Nicky Shier!) was born on the Isle of Wight, and attended school in the Ryde area. In 1992 Richard and Nicky met in Patsy's Nightclub in Ryde. Richard, a bloke from Yorkshire with a questionable chat up line, had been invited to the Isle of Wight by a local business to be their Head of Design, where he continued to work until 2016 . They married in 1995 and briefly had a wedding stationery design business until Tom was born in 1998. Lucy followed in 2001, and all Nicky's artistic ideas were put on hold until she picked up her pencils again in 2014, when The Wight Pencil was born!

I was delighted to be featured as the 'Coast Character' in the June 2019 edition of Coast Magazine.

Style of Wight Magazine - January 2018

In January 2018 I was interviewed by 'Style of Wight' magazine who had a lovely 4 page spread on my work!

October 2016 - Taste of the Wight Magazine

I was really excited to be commissioned by 'Taste of the Wight' to draw a picture for their October-December 2016 edition of the magazine. They asked me to include autumn/winter produce, so we did a bit of a tour around the local shops (seafood from Captain Stan's, bread from the Island Bakers, veg from Barrow Boys and my dad's allotment). It was great to draw things that I wouldn't normally draw - and has inspired me to add some different images to my portfolio.
